mukena bag

Alhamdulillah,

i just made my own "mukena" bag,.
with my own pattern,
well, actually, not really my pattern,
i just combine the pattern that i've learned.
this bag contains
stockinette stitch, moss stitch, bamboo stitch, rice stitch with
corrugated thread.

what about the pattern??
how to make this??
here's let me tell yaa...

basic ingredients:

for yarn,
i used 2 colors.
A : purple (basic yarn) worsted weight.
B : blue worsted weight.

and for needle,
use size 5 of circular needle. with 40 cm long.

how to make??

first, you have to cast on 60 stitches with basic yarn (A)

then,.....

row 1-9 : knit in circular,
*if you never done this before, you should learn first. because, its gonna be a 'lil bit different if you using straight needles.*

now you have to do moss stitches.

row : 10,11,15,16,20,21,25,26,33,34 do Knit two, Purl two (K2P2)
row : 12,13,17,18,22,23,27,28,35,36, do the opposite, Purl two, knit two (P2K2)
row : 14, 19, 24 just knit across.

row 29 : knit across with yarn B (blue ones).

this is where you change the color of your thread,
if you don't know how to do it, just search it in youtube first,.. hehehe... :D
and pay attention on the rows...
here's the picture,..

row 30 : purl
row 31 : * slip the first stitch, yarn over, knit two stitches, pass the yarn over the two stitches. repeat from *
(sl, YO, K2, pass the yarn over, over two stitches.)
this is what they called bamboo stitches.

row 32 : knit (yarn A)
it mean, you change the color again.

then back into moss stitches, (see pattern above)

row : 37,39,41,43 * knit one, purl one (K1P1) with yarn B. repeat from *
row : 38,40,42,44 knit across
they called this as rice stitches.

after this, i did the same pattern as rice stitches,
but, with both color of yarn.
my instruction knit said this is corrugated ribbing.

how?

row : 45,47,49,51 * knit one with yarn B, purl one with yarn A. repeat from *
row : 46,48,50,52 * knit one with yarn B, knit one with yarn A. repeat from *

you have to pay a 'lil bit of attention here,

for example, after do knit one with yarn B, when you about to start purl with yarn A, you have to slip the yarn A, through yarn B.
because you don't want to make a hole on your knitting.

and watch the curling thread around.

here's the first row of my corrugated ribbing stitches..
sorry if its not really clear picture, since i only used phone camera.. ;)

then,..

row : 54,55 just knit accross with yarn B.
row : 56,57 knit accross with yarn A.

now, we start decreasing...

row 58 : decrease * knit 8, knit two stitches together. repeat from * (K8,K2tog) still with yarn A
row 59 : * K7, K2tog repeat from *
row 60 : * K6, K2tog repeat from *
row 61 : * k5, K2tog repeat from *

last, before you finish knitting...

cut your yarn about 20 inches long.
with crochet hook, pull over the yarn from wrong needles, through working needles.
tie ends in a knot.
put the hook from inside, slip the ends yarn inside. and pull tight.

you'll find little hole there...
with tapestry needle, use to sew it from inside.

look at this,..

then done..??

oohh,.. no.. no...

one more thing to go,..

use about a meter of gold ribbon,
put it through stitches..
make it circle..

just like this,..

then done.. ^^
